Meet the Founder

Sally Lightfoot, M. Ed. CALT=QI

Five years ago, Sally was working with a student who was highly impacted with dyslexia. No matter how hard the student worked or the hundreds of exposures to a foundational skill in reading, he just did not make the connection. Then, one day, there was a spark of understanding…a moment of clarity…a flicker. There was hope…new hope! At that moment, New Hope Reading Center was born! Many thanks to that student who inspired her to reach higher and share her passion wider than she had ever dreamed.

Sally Lightfoot is dedicated to helping struggling readers get the support they need by providing evaluations for a profile of dyslexia, offering dyslexia therapy using Orton-Gillingham based programs such as Take Flight: A Comprehensive Intervention for Students with Dyslexia, training and equipping teachers to become dyslexia therapists, coming alongside school administrators to provide professional learning in all areas of literacy, and being an advocate for families

Sally has had a variety of roles in her 35+years of experience in education including classroom teacher, reading interventionist, literacy coach, data and assessment coach and a LETRS trainer for Academy School District 20 in Colorado Springs, Colorado.

Throughout her teaching career, Sally has taught hundreds of students how to read using a research-based, multisensory, structured language approach. Her extensive training has given her the ability to meet the unique needs of any struggling reader and empower them to reach their fullest potential. Students with dyslexia or other reading difficulties can learn to read if given the right instruction in a safe and encouraging environment. Now, Sally is training other educators to join her in this important work of bringing life-changing support to students who desperately need it.
